The Pad Presents…

THE ORB + Violeta Vicci
7:30pm, Friday 27th September, Bedford Esquires

Very pleased to announce we are bringing THE ORB back to Bedford Esquires for an intimate show on Friday 27th September..

Thirty-five years since Alex Paterson lit the multi-coloured touchpaper on The Orb’s interstellar space odyssey, he continues to swerve, becoming his own tribute act by never standing still and preparing a cluster of fresh new projects.

SETI, the latest collaboration between Alex Paterson and Andy Falconer of The Orb, takes listeners on an enchanting nighttime voyage through the cosmos. It’s an “ambient unplugged” experience filled with acoustic instruments and nostalgic samples, bridging the realms of old-world charm and uncharted territories. The album presents a harmonious blend of glacial-paced melodies, Nyabinghi percussion, mandolin, and acoustic guitar, offering a unique fusion of elements.

SETI, which stands for Search For Extra terrestrial Intelligence, not only explores the universe but also provides a comfortable, chill-out space within its musical ambience. This record is a testament to the creative synergy between Paterson and Falconer, who effortlessly navigate uncharted musical territory, building on decades of trust and shared curiosity.

What’s more, 2024 will be graced by an up-to-date Best of The Orb set

Gust support comes from VIOLETA VICCI.

Violeta spent her childhood summers in an 19th century cottage in a Swiss alpine valley – Cavaglia, Val Poschiavo, situated at 1750 m.s.l. To create this album, she took to translating the pristine valley and its surrounding lakes and glaciers, into music. Highlighting the fragility of the environment and the beauty and the devastation created by climate change, the album incorporates the natural world into it’s very fabric; each song a different place on the map, creating soundscapes with violin, viola, cello and vocals in combination with electronics made out of field recordings passed through modular synths, masterfully produced by collaborator Roger Goula.
