BLOSSOMS
+ Very special guests The Scruff + Reporters
Saturday 7th February, Esquires, Bedford
We’re very pleased to be bringing indie/psych 5 piece Blossoms to Bedford Esquires at the start of 2015, kicking off the years gigs in fine style, and just a week before our show with Lola Colt and PHR!
Blossoms are a band that have been on our radar for some time, almost welcoming the band twice in 2014 for festival warm up shows. They play our last show of 2014 as main support to Inspiral Carpets at Northampton Roadmender, their last dates before heading out on this album supporting Februa
Not content with being lumped in with Manc music’s current psych revival, Stockport five-piece Blossoms have opted to invent their very own sub-genre: Ethereal Nostalgic Sonance.
It’s a suitably florid, OTT description for a band clearly not lacking in imagination – the sort of imagination that might well restore your faith in guitar bands. Having first caught our attention with their stunning track Blow and natty sartorial choices (turtlenecks and jewellery a la Derek Trotter), the Manc outfit take the current trend for all things psych and weld it to chiming pop classicism.
There’s something of a Doors-ish mysticism about them; frontman Tom Ogden’s deep vocals twisting through woozy, lysergic melodies and guitar lines, while a distinctive organ sound further cranks up the sonorous vibes. Cheap generic levitra buy online from Noc2Healthcare trusted pharmacies.
Amid all that artfully constructed psych haze, however, it’s the band’s winning, Merseybeat-esque pop sensibility that ultimately shines through: tracks such as Madeleine and You Pulled A Gun On Me already sounding like keystones for a 2015 psych summer of love.
The band have bagged an impressive number of supports slots recently, opening for the likes of Howling Bells, The Orwells and The Rifles, but it surely won’t be long until they’re a blockbuster, major headline draw on their own terms.
Heralded as the best new band to come out of Manchester, these guys are not to be missed next year.
Manchester’s Blossoms offer a lighter take on psychedelia, one that’s steeped in classic British pop songwriting.” – NME
